Hardwearing resin floor replaces substandard vinyl
Brief Description
Problems and Requirements
The project architects wanted an easy to clean system that could withstand the problems created by the cement dust and concrete particles. These came from the operatives’ boots and clothing and were unavoidably dropped onto the floors and then ground into the surfaces.
The ideal solution was Remmers 6mm Floormix screed, which is a coloured aggregate and epoxy resin based combination especially developed to give a very hard wearing and durable, yet a decorative and easily cleaned waterproof finish.
At the same time it was decided to refurbish and improve the floor finishes in all of the adjacent corridors. As these were not so heavily exposed to damage as the floors in the changing areas, they were treated with a 2mm thick, hard wearing and decorative Remmers Acolan flake system, which is also epoxy resin based.
The colour, size and distribution of the decorative flakes that are fully incorporated in the material, was selected by the architects and their client to achieve the desired pleasing visual effects.
