Self levelling or self smoothing resin floors are as the name suggests. When applied, they provide a visually smooth and hard wearing surface finish, which can easily flow over and level out, uneven floors and cracks.
Self levelling resin is available in two types, categorised by FeRFA:
A self levelling resin floor provides industries with a quick and easy installation period for minimum downtime, due to the fast curing resin components.
Once cured, the smooth, levelled surface is extremely durable and suitable for heavy-duty applications, machinery, vehicles and other operations.
The seamless surface bridges any imperfections creating a completed sealed surface, promoting excellent hygiene. Without these surface imperfections, dirt, chemicals and bacteria struggle to harbour on the surface, and therefore dramatically improves the efficiency of cleaning regimes.
Unlike self-levelling epoxy floors which are mainly used within the industry, a self-levelling polyurethane flooring is the perfect choice if you require a flexible floor finish for your facility.
Areas – such as mezzanines, laboratories, and clinical spaces – where additional protection against unwanted floor cracks, is required to maintain hygiene, infection control and provide longevity.
Once installed, the self-smoothing polyurethane systems are more resistant to impact while offering more flexibility than a harder epoxy coating. The flexible ‘comfort’ feel makes them extremely popular in commercial offices, retail spaces, education facilities and the healthcare industry.
These systems offer increased levels of colour stability and excellent scratch resistance. They can be offered in a full range of RAL, BS or NCS colours as well as being used in the world of ‘designer flooring’ with marbled, blended and dual colour options.
