Very heavy duty resin floor for engineering company
Brief Description
An engineering company that focuses on the production of machined parts required a tough, impact resistant floor finish for their new machine shop.
Just under 1500m² of Remmers Heavy Duty Epoxy screed was installed, which was sealed with a durable and chemically resistant coat of Epoxy PH resin. Industrial aggregates were also incorporated to provide a long term slip resistant surface for safety under foot.
Problems and Requirements
The new machine shop was created within a redundant building that had previously been used for heavy processing. The concrete slab was severely damaged and required localised repairs up to 30mm thick prior to the resin flooring being installed.
The concrete was originally external so had no damp-proof membrane and was also heavily contaminated with oil.
Epoxy MT100, a damp and oil tolerant primer, was used in two coats to seal the substrate prior to installation of the EP Screed system.
EP screed is a FeRFA Type 8 finish recommended for very heavy duty environments and is designed to withstand severe levels of load and trafficking.
