Old, tired flooring replaced with new heavy duty resin system for pharmaceutical usage
Brief Description
Remmers were asked to provide levelling and coating systems for a large-scale industrial refurbishment project in Warrington, Cheshire. Four adjacent industrial units were being fitted out for pharmaceutical use.
Problems and Requirements
The existing floors were old and damaged from previous industrial operations. Various options had been considered and it was decided by the client after extensive trials, that the most appropriate and best value would be achieved using the Optiplan levelling system topped with coloured epoxy coatings.
The phased nature of the project meant that each unit needed to be completed within seven working days from start to finish.
The project totalled just under 7000m² split evenly between the four units. Screeding and levelling each unit was completed in one working shift by utilising mechanical pumps to mix and transport the flowing polymer screed.
Once cured, the screed was lightly abraded to remove any surface imperfections and coated with two coats of penetrating primer before topping with a coloured, heavy duty, epoxy coating.
Epoxy BS3000 SG is a low VOC, water based, high build coating with outstanding abrasion resistance and was ideal to give the semi gloss finish required.
