FeRFA Large Industrial Project of the Year 2019
Brief Description
Over 3600 Service Personnel, civil servants and contractors work at the military establishment, which houses a range of engineering supporting functions, including maintenance and frontline support.
For the 8000m² Hanger, a new floor was installed using Remmers products starting with a moisture-tolerant Epoxy MT Primer, followed by a base coat of Epoxy BS 3000 and finally topped with the Epoxyflex PH. This gave short-term resistance to any hydraulic spills that could occur, while bridging any cracks.
Problems and Requirements
An anti-slip finish was also required in critical areas but without impairing the ability to easily clean the floor.
As the concrete was newly installed and power trowelled, a moisture-tolerant primer was required throughout.
An extensive matrix of line marking was required to a precise layout, which was chosen in high impact colours so operatives could easily view them from the aircraft for accurate maneuvering.
Remmers were selected to provide the finishes due to their recent on the Protective Aircraft Shelter (PAS) Hangars, where 12,000m² of flooring was installed throughout 2018.
